Martin Margiela makes often use of trompe-l’oeil motifs in his collections. For his 1996 Spring-Summer "trompe l'oeil" (optical illusion) collection Margiela invited photographer friends to make black and white photographs of vintage garments and used these images as prints for lightweight summer garments.
